Greater Usability for Users and Service Providers
The “Smart Editor” complements the Standard Editor and HTML Editor already provided by pirobase CMS by offering a particularly intuitive editing tool that requires virtually no foreknowledge, enabling specialist departments to make use of it without the need for expensive training courses. “The new Smart Editor from pirobase CMS enables authors to maintain content in just as straightforward a manner as if they were working with a word-processing program such as Word,” explains Ali Saffari, CMS Program Manager at Pironet NDH. The reorganization of menu structures with drag-and-drop procedures makes working with the Smart Editor particularly smooth and efficient, as does direct access to integrated context menus. The end result is a reduction in the workload associated with website maintenance and an increase in user satisfaction, leading to more regular usage. The technical HTML Editor is still available for IT administrators to use - to search for errors, for example.
With this new release, Pironet NDH has thus abolished the traditional distinction between structured, form-based content-creation and a page-based WYSIWYG editor, thereby combining the strengths of both worlds without making any inroads into the familiar range of functions: Content continues to be maintained and managed at a granular level, making it easy to re-use items that have already been created.
The new Smart View tool makes the CMS extremely flexible when it comes to displaying content, making the creation and parameterization of project-specific and customer-specific layouts much simpler. This leads to a noticeable reduction in the work required to set up a new site and thence to significant financial savings. “The scripting capabilities of Smart View render the creation of websites just as straightforward as when using PHP or Ruby frameworks,” explains Saffari. “It remains as easy as before for customers to access the powerful functionality of the JEE product, thereby also profiting from the advantages offered by the JEE platform - in scalability and transaction-security terms, for example.” This flexibility increases the adaptability of the CMS - useful for companies involved in mergers and acquisitions, for instance.
Integration in Service-Oriented Architectures
With its latest release, pirobase CMS 7, Pironet NDH is laying the architectural foundation for SOA web-services. The solution has been refined in such a way that other applications can also make use of the high-performance CMS-specific functions, in the form of web services. One example of this is the execution of a search for unstructured content: with this service, customers can search any given locations - be they file servers or web servers - for content, which can then be stored in a hierarchical structure. pirobase CMS 7 also provides services for managing hierarchies (navigation structures) in the form of web services - within a portal or a business client by means of SAP NetWeaver, for example.
With its highly-granular management of the various content elements, pirobase CMS 7 is already well-equipped when it comes to personalization. These strengths can now be exploited still further, since the modularization of the product and the SOA-platform integration options make it even easier to integrate personalized content into new business scenarios and processes.
“We are still travelling along the same road as the one on which we set out in 2006, with our ‘Certified for SAP NetWeaver’ portal integration,” says Ali Saffari. He continues: “The openness of the system enables us to increase the quality rating of enterprise content for our customers, by means of integration, structuring, granular provision and target-oriented distribution.”
The list of companies and corporations that employ pirobase CMS includes the METRO Group, Panasonic, Praktiker, Celesio, Merck, Siemens and Coop (Switzerland).
