Cologne, 21 April 2009 – The German charity, Caritas, will in future obtain its supra-regional data network from Pironet NDH. The ICT outsourcing specialist will connect the Caritas headquarters in Freiburg with offices in Cologne, Berlin and Brussels, as well as an office in Munich, using its secure fibre optic network. The Pironet NDH backbone is able to prioritise data according to its intended use. By doing this, Caritas intends to safeguard the transmission quality of its IP telephony system.

Pironet NDH will additionally provide a separate replacement connection for each of the locations, in order to ensure that operations continue uninterrupted even in the event of a breakdown. According to information provided by Jürgen Imm, the information Systems Manager of Caritas in Germany, the reason for changing to Pironet NDH as a provider is due to the service orientation of the service provider: “At a technological level, most services are barely different from each other. The decisive factors for us were service and quality of service. Pironet NDH offers us a round-the-clock service as well as a central contact person for all matters.”

Data from the aid organisation with the most members in Germany, flows across the wide area network of the national association. Caritas Germany is also the largest private provider of work in this country. In total, around 520,000 workers are active in Caritas’ centres and in the provision of its services. Half a million people work voluntarily for Caritas.
